Mold making
Grinders and sanders are essential for surface shaping and smoothing when creating molds and the CP3T30 grinder enables you to speed up your mold making process.
Removing excess material – degating with ease
When molten metal is poured into molds, excess material such as flash, gates, runners, heads, or risers often forms on the casting. The CP3T30 turbine grinder enables you to eliminate bulky excess material rapidly before heat treatment.
Some castings need extremely tight tolerances to fit into assemblies or meet functional requirements and precision grinding with the CP3T30 enables you to achieve these tolerances.
Also, stress risers, such as sharp edges or notches, can weaken castings and make them vulnerable to cracks or fractures under load. Grinding and sanding smooths these areas, improving the structural integrity of the part.
Surface cleaning and surface preparation
Castings often have uneven or coarse surfaces. Grinders and sanders smooth these surfaces, improving the casting's appearance and functionality. Additionally, a casting’s surface must be cleaned prior to being coated or painted. Grinding and sanding remove surface contaminants, oxides, and irregularities, creating the best surface for further finishing.
Finishing
CP3T30 turbine grinders and sanders are essential in the final finishing process, to give the cast the required surface finish. Sanding is used to remove smaller imperfections and refine the surface texture, and to ensure consistency. Sanders can provide various metal finishes, for example, polished, brushed, grained, textured, and even antiqued.
When it comes to mold making, deburring casts and refining surfaces, look no further than the CP3T30 turbine grinder! The innovative turbine motor technology provides exceptional performance for mold production and casting processing, as well as surface preparation and finishing jobs.
Metal fabrication
Maximising efficiencies in metal fabrication
Forming
During forming, metal is removed and cut to achieve the desired shape and to make it suitable for assembly or further processing, such as welding. The CP3T30 turbine grinder is essential for removing excess material, such as burrs, or rough edges left after cutting or machining, enabling you to shape and profile the metal with precision.
Chamfering before welding
Welding is a common process in metal fabrication, but it requires clean and properly prepared edges for strong joints. Chamfering is an important step to change sharp edges into angled surfaces to enhance safety and facilitate assembly, for example rounding the edges of a bar to accommodate a round hole.
Chamfering also enhances the weld penetration which helps to create a stronger bond between the metal pieces. The CP3T30 turbine grinders can easily clean the edges before welding and are also the ideal tool for chamfering.
Weld removal and cleaning
After welding metal pieces together, there may be some excess weld. Grinders are used to remove and clean welds, removing weld beads, slag, spatter, or uneven welds, creating a seamless and professional finish.
Surface smoothing and finishing
Achieving a smooth, polished surface is often crucial for functional or decorative purposes. Grinding with the CP3T30 turbine tool refines surfaces, eliminates uneven areas, scratches or imperfections to create a uniform surface to the desired quality and finish, whether that’s polished, brushed, grained or textured.
In metal fabrication, the CP3T30 delivers excellent performance in metal cutting, surface preparation, joining and assembly processes, as well as finishing.
