Air motors for ATmosphères Explosibles – ATEX

ATEX

Our ATEX (ATmosphères EXplosibles) air motors are compliant with international safety standards, such as ATEX and IECEx, providing customers with peace of mind knowing they are using equipment that meets the highest safety standards.

In certain industrial and manufacturing applications, air motors may be used in environments that are prone to explosions, so it is important to consider the safety of these motors.

ATEX and IP rated air motors are designed to meet specific safety requirements for use in hazardous environments. ATEX is the name for the European Directive for equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. IP (Ingress Protection) ratings are used to indicate the level of protection provided by an electrical enclosure against the ingress of solid objects and liquids.

ATEX air motors are classified according to the level of explosion protection they provide, and are divided into two categories: Zone 0, 1, and 2 for gas environments, and Zone 20, 21, and 22 for dust environments. ATEX air motors are designed to meet specific requirements for each zone, such as the use of explosion-proof enclosures and appropriate electrical components.

IP rated air motors are classified according to their resistance to the ingress of solid objects and liquids. The first digit of the IP rating indicates the level of protection against solid objects, while the second digit indicates the level of protection against liquids. For example, an IP54 rated air motor has a level of protection against solid objects that is equivalent to dust protected, and a level of protection against liquids that is equivalent to water splashing against the enclosure.

Chicago Pneumatic ATEX and IP rated air motors are essential for use in hazardous environments and are designed to meet specific safety requirements. When selecting an air motor for use in these environments, it is important to consider the ATEX and IP ratings, as well as the specific requirements for the environment in which the motor will be used.
